Hi my name is Jo Wheatley, some of you may know me as the winner of 2011 Great British Bake off. Since finishing GBBO I have started up a Home bakery school from my house in Essex (the class dates are listed in masterclasses) and I've now written 2 books 'A passion for baking' on general release & 'Home Baking' available exclusively in Sainsburys and where I also write my monthly column for their lovely foodie magazine. I would love to hear from you with any questions you may have and I promise to answer if I can! (for a quicker response Facebook or Twitter me) Love JoX

New class type 1
I've been meaning to try out some new types of classes. I've really found a love for making big celebration cakes. In this class we will make a vanilla or lemon layer cake and cover it with buttercream and handmade sugar-paste decorations. This will be a perfect class if you have a celebration you'd like to try making a cake for. Class will start at 10am and will aim to be finished around 15:30 .
Multi Bake day
This is a new class that I am running. There is limited space so please book early as not to be disappointed as I only have one this year. We will bake the basic white loaf from my book and we will look at different types of styles and toppings to make it individual to you. Next on the list is a blueberry muffin loaf and lastly some shortcrust mini quiches and sweet tarts. 10am-3:30pm.

them away with you. 10am- 4pm

Christmas Hamper Baking Day (£150)
The return of the very popular baking for christmas hamper day, last year this class was so over subscribed I had to add two extra dates, unfortunately this year I only have the 2 dates published, so please book early to avoid disappointment. You will make and take with you;
1. Shortbread either plain orange or lemon
2. Mincemeat once you've had homemade you'll never want shop bought
3. 6 hot chocolate sticks Gorgeous chocolate and marshmallow ready to be popped into a mug of hot milk.
4. Cranberry Sauce a fabulously zesty sauce ready for the holiday period
5. Mincemeat loaf A lovely simple loaf full of christmas flavour
6. Granola This is one of my all time favourites, perfect to pop into a hamper with a pretty bow

You will get to take all your bakes home in lovely cake and bake boxes, with all the information on how to create these bakes. All days will include lunch and refreshments, all you need to bring is an apron.
Cupcake Decorating Classes (£120) (Full payment required to secure)
About 2 years ago I found my love for creating these dainty little cakes. I'd always thought myself not very artistic until this time, well 2 years and probably over 2500 cupcakes later Paul Hollywood told me mine were sublime, good enough to sell in any store, I'd like to share my knowledge with you. Classes will included use of all the tools you will need to produce 12 stunning cupcakes which you will get to take home. We will go through methods of frosting and sugarcraft and you will get to work with both. The use of a vast selection of cutters and moulds, basically a good foundation to making lovely cupcakes.

All courses will include lunch and refreshments in a friendly, relaxed environment.

  5. Hi Jo,
yes, I enjoyed today too. It was so good to have so many giggles while learning so much - even if you did make us knead and knead!! You made us feel so welcome, it felt like we'd all known each other for ever. Dinner tonight was a simple dish of prawns in garlic with the lovely tear n share rolls, followed by a sticky orange and pecan roll - delicious. Thank you so much, Nicky xx

Just wanted to thank you again for a great pastry class today. Like I said on Facebook, I felt more like we were hanging out in your kitchen than taking a class. You made us all feel so welcome in your home. I'd love to come to another, Kelly x
